The Department of Applied Information Technology is carrying on education and research within the subject information technology.
Today around 50 researchers/teachers work at the Department, and together with the PhD students they make a multi- and cross-disciplinary staff. There is extensive collaboration with industry within areas as Software Engineering, IT Management, and IT and Learning.
Ericsson, Volvo and Västra Götalandsregionen are examples of partners to the Department of Applied IT.
The Department was founded in 2004 and has its roots in the activities at the IT University that started in 2001. The Department is joint between the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology - and is situated at Lindholmen, very close to Lindholmen Science Park. The university part of the Department belongs to the IT Faculty.
