Biosketch: Dr. Marisa Ponti

Marisa works as researcher at the Department of Applied Information Technology at Chalmers | University of Gothenburg. Marisa Ponti earned her Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Gothenburg. She won the 2010 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award in the Information Science category. Her research interests include the use of technology to support different forms of collaboration, cooperation and collective activities in learning and research. In particular, she is interested in studying the potential of digital technologies to enhance learning and research, and investigating whether they can be applied to science to make research communities more open (also to other groups not traditionally involved in research, such as professionals), and increase the speed in which new knowledge is created and disseminated.

Marisa's academic background is multidisciplinary. She holds an Italian laurea in Sociology from the University of Rome, and a M. Sc. in Information Management from Syracuse University, USA. She participated in several European funded projects related to technology-enhanced learning.
