The informatics miliue constitutes a high-quality research environment that consists of several senior researchers focusing on the use of IT at individual, organizational and societal level.

Historically, Gothenburg informatics has in collaboration with the Viktoria institute produced strong research in the areas of mobile informatics, ubiquitous computing and knowledge management, but lately much of the research has come to evolve around Web technology.
