The Göteborg Center for Public Learning and Understanding of Science was established in 2006, as a joint center for the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology.
In 2009 GC+ became a part of the Department of Applied Information Technology.
The focus of GC+ is on building capacity for global sustainability by conducting research and public outreach on 1) science for governance, 2) building understanding of and capacity for innovation, and 3) making science-related social issues accessible to people in diverse communities, economic levels, and cultures.
