I am an Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in technical communication and applied English linguistics. I divide my work between research and teaching. I am currently on 75 % research leave from my Chalmers post.
Most of my teaching involves a focus on English and Swedish for specific and academic purposes. I teach both integrated and stand-alone courses.
My main areas of research are text and discourse analysis, English for specific purposes, English for academic purposes and second language acquisition. Since 2008, I have been working in an international research team within a project where applied English linguistics and second language acquisition is combined with education science, the EVA-project (see below). In September 2011, I started a two-year postdoctoral research project concerned with the metadiscourse of contemporary English sermons. In addition to these two larger projects, both of which are externally funded, I am involved in smaller projects together with colleagues at Chalmers University of Technology, for example investigating the use of academic words in writing at the master’s level.
Together with my colleague Fia Börjeson I am currently preparing the Chalmers Student Writing Manual (Swedish).
Since 2011, I have been acting as Communication Coordinator for the Division for Language and Communication at the programs in Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics at Chalmers University of Technology.
