Work description

Dr. Jonas Landgren, born in Partille, Sweden 1971. He is Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied IT, Chalmers University of Technology. He holds a MSc in informatics (1998) and a Ph.D. in informatics (2007) from University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

His research interests focus on the use and design of mobile technology and services for crisis and emergency response. Specifically, Jonas´s research focus on how to design information technology that complies to time-critical, boundary-spanning and distributed work practices. Jonas’s research is influenced by radical design, innovation and deep collaboration with crisis response organizations such as the Gothenburg fire & rescue services, the County Administrative Board, the Swedish Rescue Services Agency as well as Swedish Emergency Management Agency.

Jonas and Associate Professor Urban Nulden are the founders of the research group Crisis Response Lab.

Jonas has been engaged in teaching and supervision on masters level and of PhD-students. He is currently course manager for “IT-infrastructure” at the master program IT-Management and course manager for "Communication Technology" at the Communication masters program. Jonas regularly gives lectures nationally as well as internationally on his research. He also gives popular presentations on his work for emergency and crisis response professionals.

* 2012, Social media use in emergency response. Funded by TUCAP at Security Arena, Lindholmen Science Park.

* 2009-2011, Common operating picture(?). Funded by the Swedish Rescue Services Agency / Myndigheten för Samhällsskydd och Beredskap.

* 2008-2010, Documentation practice in crisis response work. Funded by the post-doctoral program from the Swedish Emergency Management Agency / Myndigheten för Samhällsskydd och Beredskap.
